HASEGAWA Satoshi

Born in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, he is a Yamabushi (mountain ascetic), instructor of yoga, meditation practices, and waterfall training, and a researcher and practitioner of Haguro-style Koshugendo, a traditional Japanese ascetic practice. He is also a lecturer at Hitotsubashi University. After completing graduate studies at the University of Tsukuba, he has spent approximately 35 years researching health improvement and physical performance enhancement through yoga, traditional martial arts, and various bodywork methods. As a certified Yamabushi holding the 20th rank of Sendatsu in the tradition, he actively guides individuals in mountain training and spiritual practices. He is affiliated with Power House as a senior director of “Honenavi” and regularly conducts courses at the Asahi Culture Center.

His notable works include No More Pain with Honenavi Exercises for Your Back, Shoulders, and Knees (Media Factory) and The Honenavi Health Method: Rejuvenate Your Joints by 10 Years (Wani Books PLUS Shinsho). In 2018, he released the DVDs Introduction to Shugendo: Fundamentals and Introduction to Shugendo: Practical Techniques (BAB Japan).

Since December 2018, he has been contributing a bimonthly column titled “Shugendo: The Path to Physical and Mental Improvement” in the magazine Gekkan Hiden.
